Obituary of Robert P. Jones

Robert P. “Mr. Bud” Jones, 77, of Kirbyville passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025 peacefully at his home in Kirbyville. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Call Junction Baptist Church with interment to follow at Davis Cemetery in Beulah Springs. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time.

Robert was born on September 9, 1948 in Kirbyville, Texas and was a life-long resident of Kirbyville. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He worked and retired from Mead Westvaco in 2002, and he served as Constable of Jasper County Precinct 3 for 22 years. He loved being in the outdoors deer hunting and fishing. He picked up the sport of karate and in 1991 he participated in the Karate World Championship where he achieved the ranking of 3rd place in the world and 1st in the state of Texas. Mostly he loved his family and was proud of each and every one of them.

He is survived by his wife Johnny Sue Jones of Kirbyville, whom he married on March 13, 1971 in Kirbyville, Texas; son Warren Mathew Jones & wife Jennifer of Kirbyville; daughter Christy Ann Jones Bailes & husband Kenneth of Kirbyville; sisters Betty Morgan of Erin and Becky Lynn Young & husband Larry of Kirbyville; grandchildren Jessica Kirbow & husband Noah, of Kirbyville Katie Gehrts & partner Gabriella Helling of Jasper, Daniel Jones of Kirbyville, and Penelope Jones of Kirbyville; as well as great grandson Tobias.
