Obituary of Robert Applegate

August 17, 1952 - July 12, 2025

A Celebration of Robert Applegate’s Life, age 72, of Jasper, Texas, will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, July 18, 2025 at the Jasper County Cowboy Church with burial to follow at West Oaks Cemetery in Jasper, Texas. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the Church.

Robert passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Timberidge Nursing and Rehabilitation in Jasper, Texas.

A native Pasadena, Texas and lifelong resident of Jasper,

Texas, Robert retired as an equipment driver for Hospice after many years of service. He loved sitting on the porch of his home watching people go by.

Robert is survived by his wife of 53 years, Vera Applegate of Jasper, Texas; sons, Vernon Applegate and wife Rhonda of Jasper, Texas and Jimmy Applegate of Jasper, Texas; daughter, Sharon Applegate of Jasper, Texas; sister, Janice Curtis of Gladewater, Texas; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Elsie York and his sister Barbara Rasinski.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
