Richard French, 73 of Jasper passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2026 peacefully at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. at Shultz Funeral Home in Jasper. The family will greet friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Richard was born on October 24, 1952 in Baytown, Texas to Roy “Dick” French & June Day Jenkins. A resident of Buna, he moved to Jasper in the last four years. He loved to play golf, fishing, hunting, and gambling. He loved his family and friends and spending time with them.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years Sandra “Sandy Liz” French of Jasper; son Billy Bennett & wife Samilyn of Bossier, LA; daughters Beth Bennett of Jasper and Ricki Chapman & husband Bruce of Cleveland, TX; brothers John French & wife Annette of Crosby; sister Tamyra Winters & husband Lee of Dayton, TX and Denise Cooper of Dayton; grandchildren Autumn & wife Emily, Ariel, Logan, Jaxon, Brianna & Allison; brother-in-laws Allen Hampshire & wife Carrie LeBlanc of Vidor and Edward Hebert of Henderson; sister-in-law Jolynn Holland & husband Nathan of Jasper; extended family Kacy Harry and Gerald Frances Freeman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Roy “Dick” French and June Day Jenkins.
