Reba Rose Stringer Gary, 85, of Jasper, Texas went to be with her heavenly father on September 21, 2025 after suffering from dementia many years. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 26, 2025 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, Texas with Pastor Wes Wright and Pastor Jerry Sheffield officiating. Burial will follow at Weeks Chapel Cemetery in Newton County, Texas. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Jasper, Texas.
Reba was born on November 13, 1939 in Jasper, Texas. She was a 1958 Jasper High School Graduate. She entered Sam Houston State University in Huntsville and completed three years of her education there. Then in the fall of 1964 she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Stephen F. Austin University. Later she received her Masters of Education degree from Stephen F. Austin University.
Reba was a retired educator of 32 years. Rarely did she go somewhere that she did not meet a former student or coworker. She loved working in her flower gardens. Reba was known for her sweet treats. She loved to bake pies for family and friends. Reba was a faithful lifetime member of Bishop Chapel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Robert Gary Sr. of Jasper; parents LW Stringer and Bertha Parker Stringer of Jasper; step-mother Lillie Stringer; brother, Ruben Stringer, and sister Nancy Pickering.
Reba is survived by a son, Robert (Bob) Gary of Jasper; daughters Kellie Sims and husband Ronnie of Kirbyville, Stephanie Northrop and husband Tom of Baton Rouge, LA. 5 grandchildren, Justin Northrop and wife Amy, Taylor Sims and wife Sunee, Tanner Sims and wife Charmi, Rebekah Northrop and Kiley Gary. 2 great grandchildren, Weston Kelly Sims and Carter James Sims.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bishop Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 5082 Hwy 63 East, Jasper, Tx 75951 or to the East End Volunteer Fire Department 1165 FM 1738, Jasper, Tx 75951.
The family is grateful to Harbor Hospice and staff for their excellent care and compassion that was provided, and to her personal caregivers, Cynthia, Wanda, Mary, and Rolanda.
Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
