Graveside Celebration of Ralph Moffett’s Life, age 95, of Burkeville, Texas, will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, December 27, 2025 at the Toledo Bend Cemetery in Burkeville, Texas.
Ralph passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Lufkin, Texas.
A native of Clark County, Mississippi, Ralph entered service in 1951 and retired a Colonel with the United States Army after 27½ years of service to his country. He moved to Toledo Bend in 1978 and perfected his fishing skills – inventing the “Moffett” Spoon used by fishing guide, Joe Joslin. Ralph enjoyed building things and built his own home and homes for others. He also enjoyed carving birds and was an avid bird watcher. Ralph was a kind, beautiful person with an unique sense of humor.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jennifer Moffett of Burkeville, Texas; son, Matt Bailey and wife Laura of Stonewall, LA; daughter, Laurie Bailey Wolf and husband Jack of Louisville, KY; seven grandchildren, Elinor, Jake, Desiree, Nick, Corey, Mason, and Grace and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bothie and Mamie Moffett; brother, Tommy Moffett; sister, Wilma Creel and daughter, Tina Moffett Hallmark.
