Obituary of Pat Phelps

Graveside services for Pat “MawMaw” Phelps, age 85, of Newton, Texas, will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Old Union Cemetery in Newton, Texas. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2025 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel, FM 1414, Burkeville, Texas

Pat passed away on December 24, 2025 at Harbor Hospice, Jasper, Texas. She was a native and lifelong resident of Newton, Texas. Patsy enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and spending time with family. She could grow any kind of flower.

She is survived by sons Rocky Phelps & wife Lorrie of Newton, Texas; Gary Phelps & wife Pam of Burkeville, Texas; and Darrell Phelps & wife Sheila of Stringtown, Texas; daughter Barbara Carver & husband Kenny of Newton Texas; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren & eight great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Jim Phelps.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Harbor Hospice, 1440 FM 777, Jasper, Texas 75951.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home, FM 1414 Chapel, Burkeville, Texas.
