Obituary of Oren Lee Miguez

November 27, 1951 - October 6, 2025

A Celebration of Oren Lee Miguez’s Life, age 73, of Zavalla, Texas, will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, Texas with burial to follow in Concord Cemetery in Zavalla, Texas. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral Home.

Oren Lee Miguez, 73, passed away in his home in Zavalla, Texas, on October 6, 2025, with his loving family at his side. A native of Port Arthur, Texas, but longtime resident of Zavalla, Texas. Oren was an avid hunter and an all-around outdoorsman. He was always one to "tell it like it is," which sometimes came across as overly blunt, but he cared deeply for his family and friends. He was very generous and willing to help anyone in need. He was hard working and he would not quit until the job was done. "Born to hunt forced to work" was the moto he lived by.

Oren Lee is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Wanda Miguez, his daughters Tammie Bartlett and husband, Frank, of Buna, Texas, Holly Dodge and husband, Donald, of Lumberton, Texas, and son Alan Cheney and wife, Kristen, of Zavalla, Texas; Sister, Kathy Ensign and husband, James of Brookeland, Texas; Grandchildren, Jessica Bartlett, of Jasper, Texas, Kenneth Bartlett of Buna, Texas, Samantha Lynch of Buna, Texas, Tyler Lang of Hollister, Missouri, Gabby Miguez of Branson Missouri, Brianne Miguez of Jasper Texas, Landon Cheney of Zavalla Texas, Raylee Cheney of Zavalla Texas; 17 Great Grandchildren

Oren Lee is preceded in death by parents, Chris Miguez and Peggy Campbell, Siblings, Chris Miguez, Debbie Miguez, Dennis "Todie" Miguez, Daughter Julie Benoit of Port Arthur Texas.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
