Noah Adam Granger J. (Jackie) 96, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family in Woodville, Texas.
Born on January 28th, 1929, in Orangefield, Texas, to the late Noah Adam Sr. and Julia Hill Granger, he lived in Spurger for the past 45 years. Jackie worked for many years in the oilfields in various positions before retiring at 65.
Jackie was married to the love of his life, Tommie McCluskey, for 68 years before her passing in 2018. His nickname for her was "Old Lady," and he was "Her Jackie."
Jackie loved working outside and pushing mowing his yard till he was in his early 90s and couldn't do it anymore.
Jackie's greatest love was fishing, either in his old green aluminum boat or just sitting on the bank in his green lawn chair. He had many favorite fishing holes. Some he shared and some he did not. His wish, when he passed, was that his ashes be scattered in different places, especially on the lake.
Jackie could be a prankster and loved playing tricks on people. You knew you had been had when he would have that little side smile and snicker. His home health nurses found this out very quickly.
Jackie is preceded in death by his parents, wife, five brothers, four sisters, and daughter-in-law Kay Granger.
Jackie is survived by son and daughter-in -law Terry and Therese Granger of Orange; daughter and son -in-law Jacquelyn and Ernest Plaunty of Conroe; daughter and son-in -law Julie and Keith Hatton of Hillister; Grandchildren; Kim and Rodney Diel, Tracey and Jimmy Pope, Jennifer and D.J. Colbert, Wendi and Jarrod Parks, Stephanie and Randy Bowe, Chad Richards, Justin and Heather Hatton, Dallas and Abbi Hatton, Travis and Amy Hatton, 21 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Care Plus Home Health in Woodville, Texas, for the in-home care they provided for our dad over the past 2 years, and especially to Sheryl Brown, who was his nurse and whom he loved dearly. She got a taste of his humor and pranks.
We want to thank Woodville Health and Rehabilitation Center for the care they provided for our dad during his stay. The nurses, aids, and anyone we came in contact with went above and beyond to see to his needs as well as ours.
We would also like to thank Olive Branch Hospice and Jennette Tweedel, who played a big part in helping with dad. And last, we want to thank Melissa Walsh, who was Dad's hospice nurse. Words cannot express how much she means to us. She made something so hard much easier to bear. It is only fitting she was there for dad because she took care of his "Old Lady", our mom, 7 years ago when she passed.
Honoring his wishes, there will be no service.
