Graveside life celebration of Nannie LaVelle Whitehead, age 88, of Kirbyville, Texas, will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Zion Hill Cemetery in Jasper, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, Texas.
Nannie passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at her home in Kirbyville, Texas surrounded by her flower gardens, which were her passion.
A native of Jasper, Texas and a graduate of Jasper High School, she married the love of her life, Walter Leon Whitehead on March 17, 1956. She worked at Morgan and Lindsey, Jasper Church of Christ as secretary and many years at Jasper ISD.
Nannie is survived by her sons, Sidney Whitehead and wife Susan and Matthew Whitehead all of Brookeland, Texas; daughter, Pam Smith of Flower Mound, Texas; daughter in law Sylvia Whitehead of Kirbyville. Aunt, Jeanne Williams and sister in law, Judy Morgan, both of Jasper. Grandchildren, Trent, Chase May, Brady, Shelby Smylie, Griffin and Justin. Great-grandchildren, Aiden, Lydia, Christopher, Michael, Charlotte, Fae and Eric.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arlis and Corene Morgan; husband, Walter Leon Whitehead; son, Michael Leon Whitehead and brothers, Donald Morgan, Dub Morgan, Johnny Morgan and Frank Morgan.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Jasper Church of Christ Youth Fund.
Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Jasper, Texas.
