Obituary of Mary Earl "Merle" Varela

September 10, 1948 - July 22, 2025

Mary Earl "Merle" Varela, 76, of Evadale died Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at Paradigm at the Pines in Silsbee.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, July 26, at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Buna with burial at Morse Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Mary was born September 10, 1948 in Evadale to C.J. Prine and Edna (Murphy) Prine. She had lived in Evadale 22 years.

She is survived by her daughters, Angela Flores and Jeffery of Vidor; Mary Varela of Corpus Christi; and Valerie Patterson and Richard of Evadale; a brother, Ricky Don Prine of Buna; a sister, Leora Ivey of Evadale; 9 grandchildren, Lawson Flores, Kaden Patterson and Payton Smith, Evrett Flores and Brooke Packwood, Khai Patterson and Emilie Nordquist, Wyatt Flores, Audrey Flores, Konnor Patterson, Kash Patterson, and Brooklynn Pymm; and 1 great grandchild, Wrenley Patterson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Anthony Varela.
