Margie Penn Odom, 71 of Silsbee, TX, passed away October 30th, 2025, in the comforting care of Harbor Hospice of Beaumont. Born April 18, 1954, in Rockland, TX , to Marlin Frank Penn and Ola Mae Penn, she lived much of her life as a resident in Vidor, TX, and her final years in Silsbee, TX.
Margie was a devoted follower of Christ. She loved God with incomparable intensity and devotion. She dedicated her life to celebrating her faith and sharing that love with others, be it through sharing the gospel, playing hymns on her guitar, or singing the Lord's praise at every opportunity. She showed the world the true passion of a child of God.
Anyone who has known Margie knows she was a fiercely independent and strong-willed woman. Though many trials and tribulations beset her health, she always prevailed and carved out her own path in the way she deemed best for herself and her family. She was a loving mother to her children and a true-hearted friend to many. She will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Khandi Davis Sledge, Brothers: James Gerald Penn, Martin Randolf Penn, and Thomas Wayne Penn, and her father and mother. She is survived by her daughter, Sabine Crystal Hemmingway of Austin TX; her son, Frank Coley McMahen of Kyle TX; her grandson, James Wesley Sledge of Austin TX; and numerous other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 3 pm at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Rockland Cemetery in Rockland, Texas. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2 pm until 3 pm at the funeral home.
