October 20, 1931 - September 4, 2025

Lila LaVerne Palmer, 93, of Nederland, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on September 4, 2025.
She was born in Kirbyville, Texas on October 20, 1931, to Bevis and Lida Skinner. LaVerne graduated from Kirbyville High School, and soon after married the love of her life, Thomas H. “Buddy” Palmer. As a youth, she worked in retail in Kirbyville, and after settling in Nederland with Buddy, she worked at the credit union in Port Neches. She was the perfect example of a loving wife to Buddy and a great mom to her two sons, always wanting the best for all of the family.
LaVerne always loved to trim and care for the plants that Buddy put around the house. She enjoyed cooking and visiting with the family back in Kirbyville. She looked forward to church on Sunday, and created several beautiful needlepoint pictures.
LaVerne is survived by her two sons: Rick Palmer of Village Mills, and Randy Palmer and his wife, Tammy, of Nederland; four grandchildren: Zachary Palmer of Baton Rouge, LA, Dillon Palmer and his wife, Ashley, now in Jacksonville, NC, Brandon Palmer and his wife, Monica, of Georgetown, and Brittany Juneau and her husband, Matt, of Nederland. LaVerne has four precious great grandchildren: Dalton, Aurora, Brigham, and Sophia. She is also survived by her sister, Janet Golden, of New Caney.
One of her favorite activities in her later years was going to stay a week or so with Janet.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her two brothers, Verlon and Carlo Skinner.
The family would like to thank Altus Hospice and the caregivers at Advocates House for their kind and compassionate care.
Funeral service will be 2 pm, Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Kirbyville Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 pm prior to service.
