Obituary of Leland "Lee" Schandorff

October 12, 1957 - December 17, 2025

Leland “Lee” Schandorff, 68, of Kountze, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Oak Bend Medical Center in Richmond, Texas.

A celebration of life service for Lee will be held at a later date.

Leland Howard Schandorff “Lee’” was born October 12, 1957 to Gordon Howard and Dora Ann Hignett Schandorff in Woodville, Texas.

To know him was to love him. Leland was rough around the edges at times, but loyal to those he loved and that loved him. He always had a witty comeback and was still a kid at heart. Always pranking or joking around. He loved his family more than words could express. He will be missed so deeply.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Dora Schandorff; grandparents, Floyd and Gertrude Hignett, and Frederik L. “Fred” and Lena Lowe Schandorff.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Penny Schandorff of Kountze; son, Richard Schandorff of Kountze; daughter, Amy Courts and husband Jimmy of Kountze; sisters, Bonnie Robertson of Cleburn, and Connie Wigley and husband Jerry of Colmesneil; brother, Cleland Schandorff of Willis; grandchildren, Kayla Gordon and husband Kevin from Houma, LA, Candyce Courts and husband Austin of Kountze, Kameron Schandorff and husband Gavin from Gramercy LA, Dylan Courts and wife Brynna of Spurger, Cayley Courts and husband Landon of Kountze and three beautiful great grandchildren, Hadley and Madi Whitmire, and Kennedy Gordon.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville, Texas.
