Kaye Sikes, 81, of Katy, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Caydance Assisted Living Center in Katy, Texas.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville. Officiating will be Brother Greg Funderburk.
Kaye was born June 8, 1944, to Charles Lamar and Dorotha Lenetta Crockard Coates in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was a graduate of Texas Woman’s University with her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Kaye served as a Summer Missionary in the summer of 1965 and was a lifelong active follower of Christ. Kaye was a registered nurse from 1966 to 1982 before joining her husband as office manager for Andrew Lonnie Sikes, Inc., an Engineering & Surveying firm. She was active in International Students Ministry at South Main Baptist Church where she taught cooking. She was an ordained Deacon at South Main Baptist Church. Kaye was known for being a warm host and great cook. She designed her dream home with a large kitchen and abundant room for friends and family to enjoy the food and fellowship. A mark of her hospitality was a sanctuary for those who were in distress.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dorotha Coates.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Andy Sikes of Katy; sons, Lonnie Sikes, II and wife Tracy of Katy; daughters, Aren Murray and husband Dan of San Antonio, and Deanna James of Austin; brothers, Church Coates and wife Susan of Houston, and David Coates of San Antonio; sister, Donna Coates and husband Lawrence T. Jones III of Austin; grandchildren, John Sikes of Bryan, and Andrew Sikes III of Houston, Jacob Murray of San Antonio, and Jack Murray of Bridgeport, West Virginia.
Memorials may be made to South Main Baptist Church, 4100 Main St., Houston, Texas 77002.
Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville, Texas.
