Obituary of Juanita Gillespie Cloyd

January 18, 1938 - January 21, 2026

Juanita Gillespie Cloyd, 88, of Doucette, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Dogwood Trails Manor in Woodville, Texas.

Visitation will begin 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. service time on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hopewell Cemetery all in Woodville. Officiating will be Pastor Billy Ringo. Serving as pallbearers will be, Conner Broussard, Aiden Pachall, Tracy Savage, Bubba Cloyd, R.J. Courter, and Dylan Broussard. Honorary pallbearer will be Nayo Gallegos, Jason Cloyd, and Paul Wade.

Juanita was born January 18, 1938 to Tucker Loveless and Mary Jane Durham Gillespie in Woodville, Texas. A former resident of Beaumont and longtime resident of Doucette. Juanita loved working in the yard especially with her fruit trees and roses. She was known for her green thumb. She enjoyed crocheting, working crossword puzzles and regular puzzles. She had an open door to everyone to come and share a meal with her, especially her family and those beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Juanita loved the Lord with all of her heart, mind, and soul.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tucker and Mary Jane Gillespie; husband of 43 years, Grover Cloyd; brothers, Robert Gillespie and John Gillespie; sister, Lovie Savage; grandsons, Billy Paul Cloyd and Danny Cloyd Jr.

She is survived by her sons, Danny Cloyd and wife Carol of Vidor, David Cloyd of College Station, Ricky Cloyd and wife Shelia of Nederland, Bill Cloyd and wife Brenda of Doucette and James Cloyd and wife Flossie of Colmesneil; daughters, Diana Gayle Best of College Station, and Nita Fay Hilburn and husband Frank of Bryan; brother, Willie Jack Gillespie of El Paso; sister, Rosalie East of El Paso; 12 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville, Texas.
