Juanita “Miss Janie” Hernandez, 69, of Woodville, Texas, passed peacefully Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at her residence.

Juanita “Miss Janie” Hernandez was a devoted homemaker for many years and truly a jack of all trades. She loved to cook and feed others, and she was especially known for her famous pan de palvo during the holidays. Miss Janie had a remarkable way of keeping laughter in the air and bringing joy to every gathering.

She had a strong, unforgettable personality. To many, she was a role model; to her daughters and son, she was their superhero – one of a kind and impossible to compare. Miss Janie always had a giving heart. She never hesitated to help someone in need and would go the extra mile to make sure others were cared for.

Miss Janie was also known for her endless creativity and hustle. She was always full of new ideas, crafts, and business ventures up her sleeve. Her creative spirit and determination inspired many, and it’s one of the many things people admired most about her.

One thing about Miss Janie was that she loved to be out and about. She could never stay home for long – she enjoyed roaming the streets, shopping, and living life to the fullest. Even as her health declined over the years, she continued doing what she loved, refusing to let anything stop her from being the strong, fiery woman she had always been.

She touched many children that she treated as her own grandchildren who loved her deeply and will miss her just as much. Miss Janie had many dear friends and touched countless lives over the years. She had a special way of leaving an imprint on everyone she met, and the memories shared with her will be cherished forever.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Sylvia Garcia Villarreal.

She is survived by her son, Arnold Garcia; raised like daughters, Tabitha Garcia and Adrianna Garcia; sister, Azida Villarreal; brothers, Jorge Garcia and Concepcion Garcia.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville.
