Johnny Bostick, 79, of Woodville, Texas was born September 29, 1946 in Beaumont, Texas and passed away October 27, 2025 in Woodville, Texas.
John Washington Bostick Jr., known lovingly as Johnny, was born in Beaumont, Texas, to Grace Inez Brown Pope Bostick and John Washington Bostick Sr. on September 29, 1946. He graduated from Kirby High School in 1965 and went on to build a long, dedicated career at Mobil Oil, where he worked in the Wax Mold Unit for 34 years before retiring in 2005. Johnny resided in Woodville, Texas, where he was deeply rooted in faith, family, and community.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Evy Harman, Daisy Fortenberry, and Ruby Nell Ogden; his brothers Herman Bostick, Raymond Pope, Paul Pope, and Charles Pope; and his beloved granddaughter, Evyn Claire Morvant.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 33 years, Linda Bostick; his sister Nancy Willis; sister-in-law Margaret Pope and his ten children: Johnny Sutton and wife Lisa, Jimmy Sutton and wife Mary Jo, Dusty Hatton and wife Julie, Courtney Hatton, Amy Dorman and husband Lynn, Jennifer Swindell and husband Jay, Nancy Morvant and husband Bryan, John Bostick and Casey wife, Jessica White and husband Trey, and Ashley Morvant and husband Christopher. And we can’t forget his four-legged best friend, that was always by his side, Smokey, his dog.
He was a proud “Pawpaw” to his grandchildren: John Thomas Sutton, Haven Drake, Stacie Sutton, Travis Hatton, Katie Hatton, Emily Hatton, Carlie Mijares, Lonna Jenks, Wesley Dorman, Aaron Swindell, Emma Swindell, Brittany Meek, Kaylon Morvant, Claira Bostick, Bella Bostick, Cooper Murphy, Leah Hollingsworth, TJ White, Taylor White, Tyler White, Tatum White, Trevor White, Tyson White, Maddox Bohannon, Graysen Morvant, Channing Morvant, and Blayke Morvant, along with 25 great-grandchildren who brought endless joy to his life. He also leaves behind many extended family members and lifelong friends who felt like family.
Johnny was a man whose heart was as big as his garden and whose hands were rarely still. He found joy in tending the earth — planting flowers, nurturing vegetables, and sharing the beauty of his green thumb with everyone around him. When he wasn’t in the garden, he could often be found in nature — a proud deer hunter and avid fisherman who loved the quiet peace of the outdoors. A lifelong fan of the Houston Astros, he rarely missed a game and shared his love of baseball by coaching for many years, teaching not just the game, but life lessons along the way. He was also a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church, faithfully volunteering his time wherever he was needed — from helping with children’s ministry to lending a hand in any place he was called to serve. In addition to his faith and family, he was a proud member of Magnolia Masonic Lodge #495 AFAM in Woodville, Texas, where he shared fellowship and service with his brothers
Above all, Johnny cherished his large and loving family. He was endlessly proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and he made sure they knew it. Known for his warm smile, easy laughter, and countless stories of adventure, he never met a stranger. To know him was to be welcomed, entertained, and loved — and his legacy will forever bloom in the hearts of those he touched.
