Obituary of Joe Darrel Patterson

January 7, 1940  -  November 1, 2025

Joe Darrel Patterson, 85 of Buna, passed away on November 1, 2025, at Rayburn Health and Rehabilitation in Jasper.

Funeral service will be 2:00pm, Friday, November 7, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Buna, TX and a burial to follow at Antioch Cemetery in Buna. Visitation will be at the church Thursday, November 6 from 5:00-7:00.

Born on January 7, 1940, to Darrel and Nellie Patterson, in Amarillo, TX.

Joe and his wife Paula were married on December 18, 1957. He spent over 50 years in the ministry preaching the Gospel of Jesus and serving the Lord at various churches. He was called to preach using the scripture of Romans 10 13:14 “How will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?” He rejoiced in the fact that his three children know and serve the Lord. His lasting desire was that everyone would come to know the Lord Jesus as their own personal saviour, to know how He loves you and have His special care over your life.

Joe is survived by his wife Paula, of 67 years; his three children, Joe Rex Patterson and Rhonda, of Buna, Paige Patterson of Buna, Darrel Patterson and Amanda of Jasper; his brother, Toby Patterson of Canyon, TX; 18 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 children in heaven and his brother James Patterson.
