Jewel Kolb Murphy, 89, of Warren, passed away January 4, 2025.
Born in Woodville, Texas, to Bryant and Lillie Bell Kolb, she graduated from Woodville High School in 1954. After graduation, she joined the Air Force, where she served until 1957. In 1986, she attended the Tyler County School of Nursing and earned her LVN license. She then began a long career in nursing, working at UTMB in Galveston and retiring from the Gib Lewis Unit in Woodville. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew and loved her.
Jewel was preceded in death by her father, Bryant Kolb; mother, Lillie Bell Young Kolb; brother, Jack and Jerry Clark, and sisters, Francis Smith and Avon Ogden.
She is survived by her loving son, Kevin Murphy and wife, Geneva; brother, Bryant Kolb; sister, Peggy Morrell; grandchildren, Amber Harvill and husband, Donald and Eric Skinner; great grandchildren, Hannah Conkle and husband, Cody and Logan Harrison; great, great grandchildren, Laiken and Asher Conkle, Shylee and Rayson Skinner and a host of other family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 6 pm until 8 pm at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel. The family asks that you come by and share memories and stories about their loved ones.
The family would like to thank the nurses at Dogwood Trails Manor Nursing Home for the loving care that they gave and for feeling like family in a time of need.
