Obituary of Herbert Ray Morrell

January 10, 1935 - January 26, 2026

Herbert Ray Morrell, 91, of Woodville, passed away Monday, January 26, 2026 at Harbor Hospice in Jasper, Texas.


Visitation will begin 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. service time on Monday, February 2, 2026 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home with Military Honors burial to follow in Campground Cemetery all in Woodville. Officiating will be Rev. Doug Wintermute. Serving as pallbearers will be Jay Larrison, Jerad Larrison, Cody Larrison, Will McNally, Gralin Dumesnil, and Derek Marshall.


Herbert was born January 10, 1935 to Phalcon and Evie Haskin Morrell in Zavalla, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Tyler County and was a dedicated hard-working man of many businesses. Herbert enjoyed cooking and hunting with family and friends, especially at the Tyhard lease. He also enjoyed fishing and football. He had a gift of operating just about any kind of equipment. Traveling was another one of his favorite enjoyments in his life. His trip to Alaska was a trip of a lifetime. Herbert had a real sense of humor and loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Phalcon and Evie Morrell; wife, Isabelle “Issie” Morrell; son, Kenneth Morrell; brothers, W.L. Morrell, J.P. Morrell, Van Morrell, and Gene Morrell; sisters, Belle Harvey, and Louise Faircloth.


He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Larrison and husband Jay of Howard, Ohio; sons, Mark Morrell and wife Frances of Santa Fe, and Billy McNally and wife Nancy of Woodville; brother, Wesley Morrell and wife Jackie of LaPorte; grandchildren, Jerad Larrison and wife Trudi, Cody Larrison and wife Kammy, Tonya Stephens and husband Chad, Gralin Dumesnil and wife Jenny, Will McNally and wife Kelli, and Cheryl Marshall and husband Derek; great grandchildren, Makenzy and Jace Larrison, Marlee and Mya Larrison, Trey Holmes, Conner and Christopher Dumesnil, Aaleigh and Ellie Eaves, Landry and Lane McNally, Hadlee and Mason Marshall; special friend, Diane Falkenberry; numerous other family and friends.


Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville, Texas.
