Obituary of Glenda Shirley Clark

A Celebration of Glenda Shirley Clark’s Life, age 83, of Burkeville, Texas, will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday, November 29, 2025 at the Burkeville Church of God in Burkeville, Texas with burial to follow at Burkeville City Cemetery in Burkeville. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Church.


Shirley passed away on November 22, 2025 at Memorial Herman Hospital at The Woodlands, Texas.


A native of Provo, Arkansas and lifelong resident of Burkeville, Texas, Shirley was a 1960 graduate of Burkeville High School. She was a retired teacher for Burkeville High School and did secretarial work for Newton County. She was also the choir director at the Burkeville Church of God for many years and was a lifelong member. She enjoyed playing basketball, painting, puzzles and music. She also enjoyed teaching the piano to young children. Joe Clark was the love of her life and she loved her family fiercely. Her greatest enjoyment came later with her grandchildren.


Shirley is survived by her son, Joe Basil Clark, Jr. and wife Adriana of Nacogdoches, Texas; daughter, Kim Collins of Jasper, Texas; brother, Alwin Zachry of Burkeville, Texas; sister, Leenie Gasway and husband Bill of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren, Allison Collins of College Station, Texas, Trey Clark and wife Madi of Denton, Texas and Kaitlyn Miciotto and husband Noah of Whitehouse, Texas and great-granddaughter, Kyla Clark.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn Benjamin Zachry and Lorene Zachry; husband, Joe Basil Clark, Sr. and her granddaughter, Rebecca Ann “Becca” Collins.


Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
