Frank Edmond “Eddie” Hatton, 77, of Woodville, passed away on December 25, 2025.
Born in Hillister, Texas, to Beauford and Irma Hatton, he lived in Tyler County all of his life. As a young teenager, he began working in the logging woods with his dad and brother; the three made Hatton Logging a recognized name in the logging industry. Known by many as Mud Hog, he worked in the woods for over 50 years, most days from before sunrise to after sunset. He was an accomplished certified pro-logger, recognized by the Texas Logging Magazine, and enjoyed passing on his vast knowledge to his son as they worked together for over 20 years.
Eddie loved to deer hunt and passed this passion on to his family. He was the patriarch when it came to putting in place a plan for a hunt, down to the mowing, where the stands were to be placed, and what type of feed to put in the feeder. He made sure that each hunt was successful, rewarding, and eventful. Another love was the Colorado mountains, where he went and enjoyed the peace and beauty of the scenery. Family meant everything to Eddie, especially his grandsons, who meant the world to him.
Eddie was preceded in death by his father, Beauford Hatton; mother Irma Sawyer Hatton; brother, Carroll Hatton; sister, Delores Jordan; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Hatton; and n nephew, Billy Hatton.
He is survived by his loving family, son, Rusty Hatton and wife, Karen; daughter, Connie Sturrock and husband, Stevan; grandchildren, Cidney Sturrock, Seth Sturrock and wife, Jordan, Trey Hatton, Tyler Hatton and Trevor Hatton; great-grandchildren, Macie Williams and Colton Sturrock; brother, David Hatton and wife, Nancy; brother-in-law, Dan Jordan and numerous other family members and friends.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, December 28, 2025, at 2 pm at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Milton Powers officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Woodville. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 4 pm until 6 pm at the funeral home.
