Fara Maurine Hanks, 82, of Silsbee, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2025 at her residence in Silsbee, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2025 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville. Officiating will be Reverend Joe Dacus and Charles Hanks. Serving as pallbearers will be Zachary Gravis, David Dacus, Ty Rowles, Jesse Hellums, Jake Moore, and Skylar Wilgers. Honorary pallbearers will be Myles Coward, Kevin Coward, and her great nephews.
Fara was born March 11, 1943 to Claude Cleveland and Fara Opal Hicks Coward in Woodville, Texas. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, bird watching, and shooting squirrels. Fara had a love for both beach and mountain vacations. She enjoyed flowers, art, and photography, but especially loved both her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Fara Coward; brother, Claude Coward, Glen Coward, Joe Coward, and Royce Coward.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Harold Dean Hanks of Silsbee; daughters, Connie Dacus and husband Joe of Beaumont, and Karyn Gravis and husband Bruce of Evadale; grandchildren, Rachel Hellums, Kara Rowles, Zachary Gravis, David Dacus, Anna Moore, Kimberly Wilgers; great grandchildren, Malyki, Micah, Lucy, Matthew, Mason, Blake, and Charlie.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Woodville.
