Obituary of Ernest David Collins

November 3, 1965 - December 10, 2025

Ernest David Collins, 60, of Zavalla, passed away on December 10, 2025.

Born in Port Arthur, Texas, to Cecil and Myrtis Collins, he lived in Zavalla for many years. He retired from the oil and gas industry as a boilermaker. He enjoyed fishing on the pontoon boat and riding his golf cart. Ernest was a people person who never met a stranger and was ready to help at a moment's notice. But one of his favorite things to do was play poker and dominoes with family and friends.

Ernest was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Collins, and his mother, Myrtis Arceneaux Collins.

He is survived by his brothers, CR Collins of Vidor and Ricky Collins and wife, Diane of Silsbee; sister, Susan Townsend and husband, Ira of Buna; special cousin, Rodney Devers and wife, Marilyn of Nederland; nieces and nephews, Brian, Jenniefer, Heather, Brooke, Brittany Dyland, and Dustin, and other family members and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 4 pm at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Robert McClelland officiating. Burial will follow at the Beech Creek Cemetery in Spurger, Texas. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 3 pm until 4 pm at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Collins, Ira Townsend, Dylan Fredrick, Dustin Fredrick, Shawn Saunders, and David Martin.
