Obituary of Effie Mae Phelps

October 16, 1935 - January 11, 2026

A Celebration of Effie Mae Phelps’ Life, age 90, of Jasper, Texas, will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, Texas with burial to follow at Zion Hill Cemetery in Jasper, Texas. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the Funeral Home.

Effie passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at her home in Jasper, Texas.

A native of Livingston, Texas, former resident of Kinder, Louisiana and longtime resident of Jasper, Texas, Effie was a former store manager for Express Mart. She enjoyed flowers. She loved taking care of and spending time with her family.

Effie is survived by her daughter, Cara “Dee” Phelps of Kountze, Texas; three grandchildren, Trae, Andrea and Tristan and her nine Great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Martin, Sr. and Ida Mae Stone Martin’; brothers, Clarence Martin, J.D. Martin and Edward Paul Martin; sister, Alice Clark; sons, Paul Phelps and Craig Phelps and two grandchildren, Kayla Dee Ann and Tyler Womack.
