A Celebration of Brenda Kay Black Shaw’s Life, age 64, of Evadale, Texas, will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 13, 2025 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, Texas with burial to follow at the Black Family Cemetery in the Browndale Community of Jasper County, Texas. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, December 12, 2025 at the Funeral Home.
Brenda Kay passed away at her home in Evadale, Texas surrounded by her loving family.
A native of Kountze, Texas and lifelong resident of Evadale, Texas, Brenda Kay was a retired truck driver. She enjoyed sewing, growing flowers, gardening and scrapbooking. She also enjoyed singing and sang with her family gospel group as a young adolescent. Brenda Kay was known by many nicknames, she was “Shrimper” to her daddy, BK and Mom, but her most cherished nickname was “Nonnie” a name she was called by her grandchildren.
Brenda Kay is survived by her husband of 43 years, Ricky Shaw of Evadale; sons, Lucas Dawayne Brunner and wife Misty of Evadale, Texas and Daniel Lee Brunner of Buna, Texas; daughter, Crystal Gayle Casper and husband Jonathan of Evadale; Texas; brothers, Michael Wayne Black and wife Lori of Brookeland, Texas and Robby Black and wife Stacy of Buna, Texas; sister, Irene Goins of Livingston, Texas; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren with one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse-Oland and Loretta Granger Black; sister, Jessie Linn; brother-in-law, Rodney Goins and niece, Rashelle De’Nene.
