Obituary of Bobbie Jack “Bob” York

October 28, 1929 - December 17, 2025

Bobbie Jack “Bob” York, of Buna, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at home surrounded by family at the age of 96 years old.

Bob was born October 28, 1929, to Joseph and Nevada Shields York, in Rule, Texas. He moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico in 1939 after the death of his parents, where he was raised by his brothers and sisters. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1947, before joining the United States Navy and serving for four years. Bob returned to Carlsbad after the Navy where he met and married his wife, Charleen Buchanan York on June 4, 1957. Bob and Charleen moved to Buna in 2013 after living in Mid-County for thirty years. He retired from Quantum Chemical as an electrician where he worked for twenty-five years.

Bob was very proud of his children, especially adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed, in his earlier years, mowing, hunting (actually just falling out of deer stands), reading the bible and spending time with family. He loved his family, so much so, that his dream was to have a mansion and his entire family to live with him. Thankfully, even God knew that would not be a good idea.

Bob and Charleen were members of Buna Church of Christ where they attended many years and served the Lord intently.

Bob is survived by his wife, Charleen; sons, Robert “Mike” York and his wife, Tammy, of Buna; Jamie York and his late wife, Donna, of Fannett; daughters, Shartrina York of Buna; Dealva York Stang and her husband, Randall, of Jordanton; Molly York Brumfield and her husband, James, of Buna; grandchildren, Brandon York, Rheanna York, Larena McClendon, Jacob York, Jennifer Melle, Scott Stan, Jack Brumfield, Makenzie Burford, and Kassy Brumfield; along with thirteen great-grandchildren.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, five sisters, one son-in-law, and one daughter-in-law.

A memorial service for Bob will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 22, 2025, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His cremation arrangements will be handled by Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont and Bob’s ashes will be spread in the mountains of New Mexico.

The family would like to thank Altus Hospice and especially Jamie, Maggie, and Stephanie for the care they gave Bob the last four years.
