Billy James McCarty passed away December 2, 2025 at 10:05 p.m. He was 94 years old and lived in Katy, Texas at the time of his passing.

Bill was born on September 4, 1931 in Brownwood, Texas to parents Martin Winston McCarty and Eula Arizona Baggett. He grew up in Lubbock attending and graduating from Lubbock High School in 1948. After graduating High School he enrolled at Texas Tech but then joined the Navy in 1951, serving during the Korean War. After completing the Navy, he reentered Texas Tech University graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1958. He his wife of 70 years, Carol Ann Foster of Lubbock, Texas met in 1954 and married August 20, 1956. They lived in Lexington Park, Maryland until 1963 when they returned to Texas residing in Houston where he began work with the newly formed the USA Space Task Force which became NASA. He was employed with NASA until his retirement in 2017. At this time, he relocated to his beloved home on South Toledo Bend Lake where he lived for the remainder of his life.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol and his son, Steven Martin McCarty of Elk Grove, California.

He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Blaschke of Fulshear, Texas, his daughter in law, Karen Mc Carty of Elk Grove, California, his grandson, Gary McCarty and his wife Krystal and their children, his great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Waylon of Combine, Texas, his nephew Phelps McCarty, his wife Tracy of Littlefield, Texas.

Memorial Services will be held at Toledo Bend Baptist Church 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 12, 2026 with burial to follow at Toledo Bend Cemetery.
