A Celebration of Benny Joe Simmons’ Life, age 75, of Jasper, Texas, will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 9, 2026 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper, Texas with burial following at Old Union Cemetery in Newton County, Texas. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 8, 2026 at the Funeral Home.

Benny passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.

A native and lifelong resident of Newton, Texas, Benny served in the United States Army and was retired from the Walker Sawmill in Newton, Texas. Benny loved fishing, reading his Bible and had a strong faith in God. Benny mostly enjoyed spending time with his family.

Benny is survived by his sons, Joseph Simmons and wife Christina of Newton, Texas and Paul Edward Simmons of Longview, Texas; brother, Barney Ray Simmons of Newton, Texas; sisters, Barbara Sue Heckel of Indiana, Rita Enoch of Indiana, Janie Simmons of North Carolina, Millie Ruiz of North Carolina and Lethia Mae Simmons of Indiana and one grandson, Samuel Wyatt Simmons.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
