Arthur Max Ellison, 73 of Plano passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, September 18, 2025.
Max was born in Silsbee, Texas on September 12, 1952 and graduated from Buna High School in 1971. He worked as an electrician for the MeadWestVaco Corporation for 32 years before he retired in 2013. Outside of work Max enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed entertaining at his annual crawfish boil he held at his camp outside of Buna. After he retired, he relocated to Waco, then Austin, and finally Dallas to be closer to his sons, Max had a jovial personality and never met a stranger no matter where he was located. He developed new friendships on his journey after retirement while always staying grounded to his hometown roots in Buna. He could spin a yarn with the best and was a trusted friend and mentor to many. But above all, he was a devoted father to his two sons.
He is survived by sons, Adam Ray Ellison of Dallas, Andrew Lee Ellison of Austin; son-in-law, Chris Bergeron of Dallas; sister, Diana Ellison of Kountze; nieces, Shayla Witt-Easterling, Cassie Goins, Erin Toney Williams; and former spouse, Deborah Martin.
He was preceded in death by parents, Arthur James Ellison and Joyce Bernice Davis; sister, Gayle Toney; former spouse Lamar Childress.
A public viewing will be held at 1 pm, Monday, September 22, 2025 at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Buna.
