The Newton Eagles left zero doubt Thursday night, hammering Warren with a 62–6 victory and securing the program’s 85th straight district win — a streak that spans well over a decade and remains one of the most dominant in Texas high school football.

The win also locks in Newton’s 14th consecutive district championship and officially punches their ticket to the postseason, marking 32 straight playoff appearances for the Eagles. In Newton, playoffs aren’t a hope — they’re a tradition.

The Eagles now sit at 9–1 on the season.

After the game, the coaching staff gathered the team on the field for one final message: enjoy tonight, but the real work starts now.

“Tomorrow, we go back to work,” Coach Johnston told the team. “We’re not stopping until we reach AT&T Stadium.”

The Eagles will take a bye next week — time to heal up, reset, and sharpen before stepping into the win-or-go-home playoff gauntlet, a six-game path that ends at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Newton last hoisted the state championship trophy in 2018, but this squad? They look hungry.

And Newton fans know the postseason drill: Pack the stands. Wear purple. Bring the noise.

Because in Newton, football isn’t just a season — it’s a culture.

Purple Pride Never Dies.
