Hopefully everyone had a great weekend, unfortunately, Monday always seems to come around too soon.
Last Tuesday, Chief Deputy Dew and I went to a location off State Highway 63 east of Burkeville and arrested Charles Brandon Rock, who was wanted for Burglary of a Habitation. Mr. Rock is no stranger to the Burkeville community, nor is he a stranger to the criminal justice system.
Friday evening, we responded to a call where a woman was attacked by a pit bull in the Call community. Deputies arrived on scene and discovered the dog’s owner had outstanding warrants and was taken into custody. We continue to have an ongoing issue with dogs running loose and getting onto other people’s property. Please be responsible pet owners and keep your dogs secured on your own property.
Saturday night, we assisted the city police department with a shooting inside the city limits. Please keep all involved in your prayers.
During the past week, the Newton County Sheriff’s Office responded to 58 calls for service and booked 11 individuals into the Newton County Jail. We currently have 26 inmates housed as follows: 12 in Jasper, 5 in Beauregard Parish, and 9 in the Newton County Jail.
I hope everyone has a great week, and please don’t hesitate to reach out if we can help.
