Newton County Sheriff arrests fugitive on felony warrant

Newton County Sheriff Colton Havard was on patrol Wednesday afternoon at 1:22 on State Highway 87 near Hardy Street in Newton when he noticed a man he recognized as a fugitive, riding a four-wheeler.

Havard initiated a traffic stop and was able to positively identify the man as 36-year-old Thomas Joe Hall of Newton. Hall was wanted by Texas Pardon and Parole for a parole violation of Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon.

Hall was taken into custody and transported to the Newton County Jail without incident. He is being held without bond.
