Newton County Arrest Report

Jail Activity Report for January 12, 2026 – January 18, 2026

Joe Leroy Chaloupka, 59, of Orange, Texas, was arrested for collision involving damage to a vehicle greater than $200. He was released after posting a $2,500 bond.

John Paul Grant, 43, of Newton, Texas, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance (PG 1/1-B under 1 gram) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Grant posted a $10,000 bond and is no longer in custody.

Christopher Allen Jarrell, 43, of Bon Wier, Texas, remains in custody while serving days for an assault causing bodily injury.

Penny Michele Parham, 57, of Round Rock, Texas, was arrested for failure to drive in a single marked lane of traffic and has since been released.

Shana Lynn Pilant McCarver, 43, of Kirbyville, Texas, remains in custody on a bench warrant and sentenced commitment to TDCJ.

Rodger Dale Sanders, 71, of Bon Wier, Texas, remains in custody on a charge of indecency with a child by sexual contact.

Ryan Calvin Smith, 37, of Burkeville, Texas, remains in custody on a charge of burglary of a habitation.

Jonterrius Raeshon Turner, 22, of Colfax, Texas, was arrested for unlawful carrying of a weapon and possession of marijuana (over 2 ounces but under 4 ounces). Turner posted bonds totaling $8,500 and was released.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
