New Waverly man arrested in Tyler County for theft of a motorcycle and trailer as well as felony possession of drugs

On Sunday, March 23rd, at approximately 9:30 am, Tyler County Deputies were made aware of lowboy trailer recently stolen from a residence in Polk County. The trailer was described as carrying a red and white motorcycle, and was last seen headed towards the Chester area.


Approximately 15 minutes later, Tyler County Deputies were able to locate a GMC pickup, towing a trailer and motorcycle, on FM 1745 at US 287. Deputies conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as 41-year-old Charles Denton, of New Waverly. While speaking with Denton, deputies were able to identify the trailer, motorcycle and numerous other items that were stolen from the residence located in Polk County.


During a search of the truck, deputies discovered approximately 8.7 grams of Methamphetamine and a small amount of Marijuana.


Denton was arrested and transported to the Tyler County Jail charged with Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance "Meth", Possession of Marijuana and Driving While License Invalid. Denton was also charged with (3) Polk County Warrants for Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, Felony Theft and Felony Engage in Organized Criminal Activity.


Justice of the Peace Tina Self set Tyler County bonds at $106,000.00. Denton currently remains in the Tyler County Jail and will ultimately be transferred to the Polk County Jail.
