New Jasper Public Transit Pilot Launching July 7

Two agencies are teaming up to help meet the demand for curb-to-curb public transportation in Jasper.

Beginning Monday, July 7, a partnership between the South East Texas Regional Planning Commission and Orange County Transportation of Southeast Texas Transit will offer residents of Jasper affordable, accessible transportation services.

The new program will pick up passengers at their homes and take them to destinations within the city, then return them back home. All vehicles used in the program are wheelchair accessible, helping ensure equitable service for those with mobility challenges.

The transit service will run on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Riders must make a reservation to secure a spot. Same-day rides may be available but are not guaranteed. Organizers recommend booking at least 48 hours in advance.

Fares will be just $1.00 each way, though rates and times are subject to change as the program develops.

To reserve a ride, call Orange County Transportation at (409) 203-1201.

Further information on how to schedule reservations and any updates about the program will be provided as they become available.
