Newton County Sheriff Colton Havard said that as of today, his office is now fully staffed.

On Monday, Havard filled the final vacancy by hiring Patrol Deputy C.J. Forsythe as part of the Newton County Sheriff’s Office. Havard said, "Forsythe brings several years experience to the department and is looking forward to serving the citizens of Newton County with dignity and respect."

Havard said that today, law enforcement agencies across the nation are struggling with recruitment and retention, and most continue to work short-staffed.

Havard added, "We are honored to have such a great team of men and women here in Newton County."
