The Newton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a violent disturbance early Saturday morning that resulted in the arrest of a local man on multiple felony and family-violence charges.
At approximately 1:00 a.m. on November 15, 2025, NCSO dispatch received a call from a woman at the Sabine ATV Park reporting that her husband was threatening to kill her and her son. Deputies immediately responded to the scene.
According to investigators, Earl Lynn Jarrell had assaulted his wife prior to their arrival. When Jarrell’s son attempted to intervene, deputies say Jarrell pulled a knife and began advancing toward his son and a friend, threatening to kill both individuals while holding the knife in his hand.
After conducting their on-scene investigation, deputies determined that probable cause existed to take Jarrell into custody. He was transported to the Newton County Jail, where he was charged with:
Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Assault Causing Bodily Injury – Family Violence
Sheriff Colton Havard confirmed the arrest and said the case will be forwarded for further prosecutorial review.
Jarrell is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
