BROOKELAND, Texas — Mark your calendars and lace up your boots — National Public Lands Day is set for Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Lake Sam Rayburn Overlook Area, and the community is invited to roll up their sleeves and join in.
Hosted by the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas, this annual event is all about giving back to the public lands that give so much to us. From restoring trails and picking up litter to simply spending time in nature, there’s something for everyone — whether you want to get your hands dirty or just soak in the fresh air.
Registration kicks off at 7:30 a.m. at the Overlook, where volunteers, families, and outdoor enthusiasts will gather for a day of stewardship and celebration.
Organizers say the day is not just about cleaning up, but also about building connections. “This is a great opportunity to make a positive impact, connect with fellow nature lovers, and enjoy one of our most cherished landscapes,” the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas announced.
National Public Lands Day is the largest single-day volunteer event for public lands in the nation, bringing together thousands across the country. Here in East Texas, it’s a chance to show love to Lake Sam Rayburn, a spot treasured by anglers, campers, boaters, and families alike.
So, grab a friend, bring your gloves, and help keep our lands beautiful. Together, we can ensure that Lake Sam Rayburn remains a place for future generations to explore and enjoy.
