Multiple Prescribed Burns Planned Today Across East Texas

Officials with the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas announced that multiple prescribed burns are scheduled today, Friday, February 6, across San Augustine, Jasper, Walker, and Houston counties. The burns are being conducted by the Angelina Sabine, Sam Houston, and Davy Crockett Ranger Districts as part of ongoing forest management and wildfire risk reduction efforts.
Operations will involve both aerial and hand ignition, weather and conditions permitting.
Jasper County
Location: Highway 63 / Highway 255 area

Officials caution that smoke will impact areas around all prescribed burn units, and long-range drift smoke may be present during and after ignition operations.
Motorists are urged to drive with caution, as smoke may reduce visibility on local roads and highways near the burn areas. Ground personnel will be actively operating in and around each burn unit throughout the day.
Residents are encouraged to review the attached maps showing projected burn areas and remain alert for changing conditions.
