CHAMBERS COUNTY, Texas — A joint investigation led by the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office and DEA Galveston Resident Office has resulted in one of the largest methamphetamine seizures in recent Texas history — more than 400 kilograms recovered from a residence in Houston on October 24, 2025.
According to Sheriff Brian Hawthorne, the takedown was the result of months of inter-agency coordination among multiple law enforcement partners, including the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, Galveston Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, Houston Police Department, and Homeland Security Investigations.
“This is a huge victory against the Mexican Drug Cartels and their local minions in our efforts to eliminate dangerous drug trafficking in our communities,” Sheriff Hawthorne said. “This operation is an excellent example of what happens when agencies work together. Let this be a warning to anyone attempting to traffic drugs in our area — we take this threat seriously, and we will take it down.”
Officials have not yet released details regarding arrests or charges stemming from the seizure, but the investigation remains active.
Photo provided by Chambers County Sheriff’s Office show hundreds of tightly sealed bags of suspected methamphetamine stacked across a conference table at the DEA Galveston office, underscoring the scale of the bust.
Residents are encouraged to report suspicious drug activity by contacting the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office or submitting tips through the CCSO mobile app, which can be downloaded by scanning the QR code included in the department’s media release.
