Forecast Discussion
Rain chances will increase with likely chances Friday and Saturday ahead of mainly dry conditions early next week.

Highest chances are forecast for Friday and Saturday ahead of drier weather early next week.
A slight chance of late afternoon showers and thunderstorms is forecast across Southeast Texas Thursday with highs in the middle 90s as a surge of tropical moisture begins working into the area.

It begins moving into the area late Thursday resulting in a slight chance of late afternoon showers and thunderstorms.
Friday and Saturday, an upper-level disturbance moving west through the gulf will bring wet weather. The National Hurricane Center gives it just a 10% chance of development.

Unlikely to develop mainly due to shear and proximity to land.
Upper-level wind shear and it’s proximity to the coast will prevent it from developing.

The upper-level disturbance and surge of tropical moisture will arrive Friday resulting in likely rains.
Regardless, cooler afternoon highs are expected due to cloudiness and rain. Rainfall totals Friday through Sunday average just over an inch in the Triangle with lighter amounts in the Lakes and heavier amounts along the coast. For now, 1-2 inches is forecast.

Sunday, the disturbance will move off to our southwest cutting rain chances to just a 30% coverage.

Upper-level high pressure then rebuilds over the area Monday and Tuesday with a hot, mainly dry forecast and highs well into the middle 90s.

Late afternoon showers and thunderstorms may try to sneak into Southeast Texas from the east next Wednesday due to the flow around upper-level high pressure to our north.
