As families prepare to fire up the grills and pay tribute to fallen heroes this Memorial Day weekend, the forecast for Southeast Texas and Central/Southwest Louisiana is shaping up to start warm and mostly dry—but don’t stash your umbrellas just yet.
According to the National Weather Service in Lake Charles, conditions will be favorable through Saturday, with highs ranging from 88° to 94°F and only a slight chance of rain (less than 15%). Overnight lows will remain mild in the low to mid-70s with minimal rain chances.
By Sunday, however, a stationary front and developing surface low are expected to shift closer to the coast. This will increase moisture and bring a higher chance for showers and thunderstorms, some of which could produce heavy rainfall. Sunday’s rain chances rise to 20-30%, with a potential increase into Sunday night (10-30%).
Memorial Day Monday sees the highest rain risk, with a 30-60% chance of thunderstorms throughout the day. Highs will reach 87° to 91°F, but humid conditions and localized downpours could disrupt outdoor plans.

A Marginal Risk (Level 1/4) for excessive rainfall and flash flooding exists across parts of Southeast Texas and Central Louisiana on Monday and Tuesday, especially for areas like Woodville, Jasper, and Leesville.

Safety Reminder: Residents are encouraged to stay weather-aware and monitor local forecasts. Storms may bring high rain rates, and flash flooding is possible in some areas.
