Jasper County law enforcement responded swiftly Friday to reports of criminal mischief in progress, leading to the arrest of a Jasper man now facing multiple charges.

Chief Deputy Larry Pulliam, Sgt. Chris Wade, Deputy J. Spivey, and Investigator C. Starkie were dispatched to the 5000 block of FM 1747 in north Jasper County. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that Eric Wilson, 49, of Jasper, had allegedly cut several Spectrum internet lines and intentionally poured gasoline on an AT&T phone box before setting it on fire.

Wilson was arrested at the scene and charged with Criminal Mischief (a Class B Misdemeanor) and Arson (a Second-Degree Felony). He was transported to the Jasper County Jail.

Wilson is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sheriff Chuck Havard and his team continue to emphasize their commitment to protecting local infrastructure and holding individuals accountable for actions that threaten public safety and essential services.
