BUNA, Texas — A Buna man was arrested Sunday afternoon after deputies responded to a reported trespass on Pine Street, according to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.
On Sunday, January 25, 2026, at approximately 1 p.m., Deputy Harrell was dispatched to a residence on Pine Street in Buna in reference to a trespasser. Prior to arrival, Deputy Harrell confirmed the suspect had previously been issued a criminal trespass warning for the property.
Upon arrival, Deputy Harrell located Alvis Edmonds, 47, of Buna, inside the residence and refusing to leave. The property owner repeatedly demanded Edmonds vacate the home in the presence of law enforcement; however, Edmonds continued to refuse.
Edmonds was placed under arrest for Criminal Trespass. Due to the Declaration of Disaster currently in effect in Jasper County, the charge was enhanced from a Class A misdemeanor to a state jail felony.
While deputies attempted to secure Edmonds inside a patrol vehicle, he reportedly resisted, resulting in an additional charge of Resisting Arrest, Search, or Transportation, a Class A misdemeanor.
Edmonds was transported to the Jasper County Jail.
As with all cases, Edmonds is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
Sheriff Chuck Havard and the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office stated they remain committed to combating criminal activity and maintaining public safety throughout Jasper County.
