JASPER COUNTY, Texas — A Jasper man was arrested Sunday morning following a reported burglary on FM 3714, an incident that occurred as much of the region remains under an ice storm warning with widespread power outages affecting Jasper County and surrounding areas.
On Sunday, January 25, 2026, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Deputy Gray responded to 1498 FM 3714 in reference to a burglary that had just occurred. During the investigation, Deputy Gray located a generator in plain view inside the backseat of a suspect vehicle that had become stuck in the victim’s front yard while attempting to leave the property.
The victim confirmed the generator belonged to him and stated it had been taken from inside his residence without his consent.
The suspect was identified as Jason Lane Baldwin, 28, of Jasper. Deputy Gray located Baldwin next door at his sister’s residence. According to authorities, Baldwin admitted he took the generator from the home and placed it in the rear seat of his vehicle.
