Updated information: Major one-vehicle accident Sunday morning in Kirbyville

We have just received the updated information on this wreck.


According to the Department of Public Safety Media Sergeant Shana Clark, the accident happened at 9:57 am on Sunday morning. The driver, a 16-year-old male was driving a Nissan pickup truck. He was traveling West on Hwy 82, also known as The Airport Road in Kirbyville. For some unknown reason he drove off the road to the right and struck a large tree.


The driver was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. However the passenger, identified as 41-year-old Tiffany Jarrett of Kirbyville, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

Just before 10:00 am Sunday morning, Kirbyville Volunteer Fire Department, Kirbyville Police, Jasper County Deputies, and the Department of Public Safety were called out to 82 West, also known as the Airport Road in Kirbyville for a major one vehicle accident with entrapment.

Once on scene, Kirbyville Police Officer, Scotty Duncan attended to the victim while waiting for EMS. Kirbyville Officer, Ashley Arce notified the family of the accident. It was quickly determined that the victim required air transport. A landing zone was then set up at the Kirbyville Airport.
