Major accident on Hwy 96 North of Kirbyville sent two to the hospital in life-threatening condition

An accident today that happened on U.S. Highway 96, in Kirbyville near County Road 457, sent two Louisiana residents to area hospitals.
The Department of Public Safety Media Sergeant, Shana Clark said, "The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 10:44 a.m., a Dodge pickup was traveling south and pulled to the shoulder of the road. It is reported that the driver of the Dodge made an unsafe U-turn and was struck by a Mazda SUV that was also traveling south."
The driver of the Dodge, identified as 63-year-old Anthony Redmond of Gray, La., was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. His passenger, identified as 43-year-old Leon Duslelanc, was not injured.
The driver of the Mazda, identified as 51-year-old Angelina Papania of Sulphur, La., was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Her passenger, identified as 50-year-old Michael Brinson, was not injured.
