Updated: Major accident at Roganville and Hwy 96 involving a log truck and a passenger vehicle sends two to Jasper Memorial

Just after 2 pm today, Kirbyville Volunteer Fire Department, Roganville VFD, Jasper County Sheriff's Department, and The Department of Public Safety we're called out to the Northbound side of Hwy 96 and Roganville Road for a major accident involving a loaded log truck and a passenger car.

The Texas Department of Public Safety Media Sergeant Shana Clark said, "The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 2:20 p.m., a 2024 Peterbilt truck tractor semi-trailer was traveling north on U.S. 96. It is reported that a 2007 Lincoln passenger car was on F.M. 2245 and failed to yield to the Peterbilt, pulled into its path and was struck. After impact, the Peterbilt overturned."

 

The driver of the Peterbilt, identified as 34-year-old Jarius Dunham of Huntington, was transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

 

The driver of the Lincoln, identified as 94-year-old William Hale of Kirbyville, was also transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.


The Texas Forest Service was called out to remove logs from both the North and Southbound lanes of 96.


Both drivers were sent to Jasper Memorial Hospital by Allegiance Ambulance Service. Their conditions are unknown.
