A community-wide effort to support local students and families in need has proven to be a tremendous success.

Organizers of the “Love Thy Neighbor: One Bowl at a Time” Cereal Drive announced that the initiative collected 212 boxes of cereal, weighing a total of 359 pounds, with additional donations still being received from participating agencies.

The drive, created to provide comfort and nourishment to families facing food insecurity, saw strong support from residents and local businesses alike. Each donated box represents more than just a meal — it reflects the generosity and compassion of a community coming together to care for its neighbors.

A special acknowledgment was given to Southside Bank for sending employees to volunteer and assist with the effort. Organizers said the bank’s teamwork and dedication played a meaningful role in the success of the drive.

“We are so proud of our community for stepping up and showing what it truly means to love thy neighbor,” organizers shared in a statement. “Every box donated helps bring comfort and nourishment to students and families in need.”

Community members who donated, volunteered, and helped spread awareness were thanked for their support. Organizers emphasized that the impact of the drive extends far beyond the numbers collected.

Together, the community is making a real difference — one bowl at a time.
